Another old bird season has come to an end and for the FHPC club it was one in which Nick Potts dominated from start to finish. Nick won every single AU sanctioned race and every diploma with the exception of two third place ones. Jim Randall, Sumerduck Loft, won the FFR Old Bird Futurity. Not only did he win, but he took the top 3 positions with the only day birds clocked on a very tough 400 mile race. Majeed Sohkul and Lee Shelton completed their first old bird series with teams of yearlings and Tom Kowall, Historyland Loft, started the season with 5 old birds and finished with 3. He flew every week and every race with the exception of a 200 mile race that took him out of town and the FFR race in which he didn't have any banded FFR birds. Congratulations, Nick and the guys on another successful race series.
Young bird season started on the last day of August and unfortunately did not include a fixture and outstanding pigeon man. Nick Potts would miss the first race and not participate in a race until October 5th due to recovering from heart surgery. Tom Owens would take advantage of Nick's absence and win 4 of the first 5 "A" races. He would also win Champion Loft and Average Speed for the season. Sam Pixley would also win 4 races during young bird season and Ty Wilson would win 3 races. In true champion fashion, Nick Potts would win his first race on October 5th and go on to win 7 of the last 10 races total. Jim Randall, Sumerduck Loft, earned one victory and Lee Shelton won his first race ever the first week of racing. He would also take 2nd and 3rd in that same race! The veteran flyers really took it to the young guys in 2019. See everyone in 2020!
